The Brazilian Software Congress (CBSoft) of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) ended on October 23rd, and PESC shone through its former students. Valéria Silva and Prof. Guilherme Travassos were awarded 3rd place in the Master's Dissertations Competition. The first place in the Doctoral Theses Competition was for a UFAM student and his advisors, two former students, Arilo Dias Neto (UFAM) and Rodrigo Santos (UNIRIO).  Three former students received awards for best papers, namely Leonardo Murta (UFF), Monalessa Barcellos (UFES), and Breno França (UNICAMP). Rodrigo Santos (UNIRIO), Gleison Santos (UNIRIO), and Monalessa Barcellos (UFES) received the best reviewer award.

The coordinator of the Special Commission on Software Engineering of SBC is now Prof. Tayana Conte, another former student of PESC and currently at UFAM, who is recognized for her research work and for making the Brazilian Software Engineering community more inclusive and collaborative.

It is also worth mentioning the beautiful tribute made in the opening session to our former student Prof. Ricardo Falbo, who died this year. He was a professor at UFES, admired and loved by all, both for the quality of his work and for being an admirable person of great values.
