Student of PESC receives the Woody Bledsoe Award 2019
The PhD student of PESC Alexsander Andrade de Melo, under the supervision of professors Celina Figueiredo (PESC/UFRJ) and Uéverton Souza (IC/UFF) received the Woody Bledsoe Award 2019 for his paper: On the Width of Regular Classes of Finite Structures, to be presented at the 27th International Conference on Automated Deduction (CADE-27), to be held in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, 23 to 30 August 2019.
The prize is given to students for notable contribution to the area of Automated Deduction, according to the quality of their papers accepted in the conferences International Conference on Automated Deduction (CADE) or International Joint Conference on Automated Reasoning (IJCAR).
The paper by Alexsander Andrade de Melo contains results obtained in his sandwich PhD at the University of Bergen in Norway, under the supervision of professor Michael Fellows with a grant PDSE/CAPES 2018. The paper is coauthored with the post-doc Mateus de Oliveira Oliveira, of the University of Bergen .
