The Tamagoshi ( Task Si mul ator Pro gram and OR-Sc heduler Interface) system was designed with the objective of simulating a simplified execution of an or-parallel system. The scheduling protocols were developed independent on the actual abstract machine, what allowed to test the communication protocol between schedulers without interference of the actual execution. The simulator generates synthetic loads that are commonly found in the actual or-parallel Prolog execution. Our first results using a centralised strategy (as the one used in the Plosys system) and a totally distributed strategy shows that for our workloads the totally distributed strategy overperforms the centralised one.
