“50 years dedicated to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro: conquests and defeats” is the theme of the lecture at the next PESC Seminar Cycle, to be delivered on October 6th, at 6 pm, by professor emeritus Nelson Maculan (PESC). The virtual event will be broadcast live on the PESC YouTube Channel.

Emeritus by Coppe and the UFRJ Institute of Mathematics, since 2014, Maculan will talk about his trajectory, always marked by the struggle for free and quality public education, and for research to be the most important factor, especially in public universities. The professor joined Coppe, in 1971, in the Production Engineering Program, and two years later he went to the Systems and Computer Engineering Program, assuming its coordination and collaborating for the rapid growth of the program.
